Mike Ogolla and team have been very active. We have been able to come up with the funds for the fingerlings and the feed. The ponds are now active again!

For that to work, we had to install pond covers to protect the fingerlings from birds. The birds would otherwise have a feast on these fingerlings, which tend to swim at the surface.

Of course, we need to feed the fingerlings every day.

It is exciting to see this project progress even in small steps. We want to prove to the world that it can be done. It is a lot of work because we need to change water all the time. Otherwise, the fish would not get enough oxygen:

Once we get the oxygenation going, it will not only require less work for us but also keep the fish healthier and allow us to grow more fish. What we really need are cages that we will put into Lake Victoria so we can scale up and grow fish for many communities around the lake.

We are so happy to have the new building. That’s where they keep the feed and other equipment safe:

A wonderful additional benefit is that we use the water from the ponds to fertilize our garden. We grow fruit and vegetables for the community:

Please help us by donating to this project; even the smallest amount helps us to pay for feed, transportation, and the many detailed needs to keep the fish farm going.
